Whale Watching... in the Sacramento River?!

These poor humpback whales -- a mother and calf -- have been trapped in the Sacramento River for almost two weeks now. We walked, ferried, and hitchhiked along the river with many other opportunistic pilgrims, to track down the whales.

Always something interesting out there to be exploring!

Would like to have seen more of the whales' bodies but it must have been neat to be so close to them. You'll have to post something about their fate. Hopefully, they'll be okay and head back to the open waters! Mom
